To those who have decided to peripherally monitor this train to see of it goes off the rails, I feel obligated to inform you that I am not a same time every day writer. It comes when it comes and the schedule allows. I would love to be a same time every day AM writer. Alas, there are days when I am a PM writer, and even late night writer. (In fact, that is most days) Happy Scribing. Image courtesy of http://lisahewitt.tumblr.com/post/67267979204
March 28/29 – Days 148 & 149 – 1015 Words
It’s update time again, and that must mean it’s time for the groundhog to see his shadow. Yep, that’s precisely what it means.
“Should I say something here as the only voice of reason present? Or are you off and away in that place where you don’t hear a word I say?”
The second one. Anyway, folks, I sense a brief update coming. Why? Um, I’m tired and hungry?
“Really? You’re gonna shaft the readers because your tummy is rumbling?”
Like I said, the second one. Okay, here goes, I am in chapter 29 now and my MC’s have run into a bit of a snag in chasing down their man. Bullets are flying and they have to find some way to get out of there, and fast, because they have to stop one guy from running his mouth, and 'their man' from killing his next victim. Sound confusing? Try writing it ;P.
But, seriously, I am in the heat of it now and want to get it right. In fact, something just came to me that I could include in conversation, which would add to the credibility of the clue they found earlier, inside the house. With that said, I am in chapter 29, still chugging along toward The End, and the Irony 3 Novel Train is still on the tracks. Thanks for taking the ride with me thus far. Happy writing. March 30/31 – Days 150 & 151 – 1047 Words
“Do you know what Klingons dream about?”
What? No. How would I know that?
“Klingons dream about things that will send cold chills down your spine and wake you in the middle of the night. It is better that you do not know.”
Let me guess, Star Trek?
You know, you brought up something about Star Trek the other day. (Week 21 Days 145/146)
Are you … are you a Trekkie?
I think you just lied. I think you are a Trekkie and don’t want the Irony 3 Novel Train passengers to know.
“Ridiculous. If I were, I would say so, but I’m not. I’ve never gone to any of those conventions."
You don’t have to have attended a convention to be a Trekkie. Let me ask you a question. Do you watch Star Trek reruns often?
“Not so often, just once in a while.”
One in a while to the point where you can quote character lines from random episodes?
“It wasn’t a character line, it was Worf, son of Mogh."
Um, okay then, moving on.
“I wouldn't let Worf hear you call him a character. Klingons are not known for their sense of humor.”
Tell me, non-Trekkie, what are they know for?
“They are Alpha Quadrant warriors who live to die in battle. Honor means everything to them. That is why I told you not to let Worf here you call him a character. He might feel you affronted his honor and will be forced slay you with his bat’leth.”
“It is a good day to die!”
Kapla? What does--
“May the spirit of Kahless guide your blade.”
Spirit of who?
“What are you standing there for looking like a wounded targ? The Jem’Hadar are coming through the wormhole with a fleet sent by the Founders.”
I don’t think--
“We must prepare. Battle stations! Shields up! Arm the photon torpedoes! Lock phasers on target!”
Um, okay then. Well, folks, I had an Irony 3 Novel Train update planned, to tell you that I am still on the tracks and that the best I can say about these past two days is that I hung in and got the job done. The book and plot advanced and I am still working on getting my MC’s out of the jam they are currently in. Hemmed in on both sides, it’s do or die, and I am hoping it's not die. If it is, then I have no more book. :) That is what I planned, but it looks like I have a space war on my hands instead.
“Chief?! I want those Heisenberg Compensators back online, now!"
*Sigh* I guess the only thing left to say is happy writing, and feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.
April 1/2 – Days 152 & 153 – 1026 Words
You have something you want to say?
“Um, I’d like to apologize to the Irony 3 Novel Train passengers for my little wig out last update.”
Little wig out? You were fighting a space war. That’s more than a little wig out. That’s loony bin territory.
“Still, I feel I owe the passengers on this ride an apology. They have come to expect me to be the sensible one and I feel like I let them down.”
Pfft. More like the senseless one, you mean.
“If Worf, son of Mogh, heard you say that—!”
He’d what? Slay me with his bat’leth?
“Um, nothing. I am okay. All is okay. Like I said, I had a little wig out and I am fine now.”
Uh-huh, right. Okay then, on with the update.
Another thousand words people and I am so close I can almost taste the ending. Almost taste, because there is still a ‘ways to go, including a killer to catch, some explaining to do, rationalizing to agonize over, and wrapping everything up in a message at the end. Can I do it? Will it get done? And, if it gets done, will it be any good? There is only one way to find out. Keep your external limbs inside of the train cars and continue riding the rails with me.
“These two writing days went relatively smoothly, with some rewriting of a few things thrown in for good measure, and no April Fool’s pranks on the 1st to slow down the process. All in all, a solid effort.”
Hmm, I guess you are okay. That’s good, because when I heard there was a sale on blood wine at Quark’s place, I thought--
“Blood wine sale?! Good grief, man! Why didn’t you tell me? Kor, the Dahar master, is in the halosuite fighting the battle of Klach D'Kel Brakt. When he gets out of there, he will inhale every bottle in the vicinity. I’d better get down there, and fast.”
Oh, yeah, you’re okay, just fine and dandy.
“Um, do you mind turning around, or at least covering your eyes? I don’t want you to see where I hide my strips of gold pressed latinum.”
Folks, if that doesn’t wrap this loony puppy up, I don’t know what does. Happy writing and feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.
April 3 – Day 154 – 504 Words
End of another writing week on the rails of the Irony 3 Novel Train. What does that mean? It means that this old boy is still on the rails, blowing his stack smoke and train whistle through farm and hill country of an internet state near you. What does that mean? It means that five hundred and four miles were achieved on this writing day through grit and perseverance. What does that mean? It means that my MC’s (Main characters to you first time visitors and non-authors) are still fighting for their lives inside the house I mentioned a while back. What does that mean? It means that this caboose is full steam ahead toward ‘The End,’ and by the grace of God will make it. What does that mean? It means that I write by faith and not by sight. What does that mean? I have no idea, because now that I have closed my eyes, I can’t see what I am typing.
“I know what that means.”
“That this loony puppy is wrapped up and the passengers should write happily, feeling free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.”
For this week's week end song I say jam with me! Come on people, shake in your internet chairs, or with a tablet or mobile in your hands, and just let it loose for a few minutes of Happy. I mean, if you cant jam to this song, can you jam to anything?
