To those who have decided to peripherally monitor this train to see of it goes off the rails, I feel obligated to inform you that I am not a same time every day writer. It comes when it comes and the schedule allows. I would love to be a same time every day AM writer. Alas, there are days when I am a PM writer, and even late night writer. (In fact, that is most days) Happy Scribing. Image found here: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/night-train-werner-rolli.html
Feb. 28/March 1 – Days 120 & 121 – 1106 Words
Ahh, the fresh aroma of another writing week on the rails of the Irony 3 Novel Train. Can you smell it? Go ahead, cast caution to the wind and throw your nose in the air, all carefree like, and take a sniff. Do you smell it now? The roaming countryside? The dusty back roads that haven’t seen rain in months? The faint odor of manure scented daisies, as the Novel Train chugs along through farm country? Smell it now? See? I told you. And right alongside those delightful smells is another.
“You mean the one of you needing a shower?”
Funny, but no, I mean the one of a brand new chapter, Chapter 21. Being a svelte 542 words, it was started and finished in the same day. (Day 121) Just a lovely little scent, don’t you think?
“I think you reek of banana peels and old newspap--”
Yes, I agree, it is a lovely scent.
Anyway, the beginning of another writing week and we are already eleven hundred words in. Definitely, something to be excited about. In these two writing days, I further greased the wheels of my plots and am happy about the direction in which I have decided to take them. I have even somewhat altered one of my plots' originally planned endings. Altered? Who am I kidding, I have blown it up, choosing a different killer and everything. Why can I choose a different killer at this late stage and it still work? Because, I purposely wrote the part I changed to be a mystery reveal at the end.
Yes, I planted crumbs that would point to a killer; which, looked back in retrospect, would be an “ah, okay,” moment for the reader. But, a few things here and there can be switched in the rewrite, or I can choose to use those things as a red herring. Hmm, that might be an even better idea. We'll see how it shakes out. All in all, a competently successful beginning of the writing week on the rails. Let’s hope for more.

March 2/3 – Days 122 & 123 – 1019 Words
And away we go.
“Where? Where are we going?”
Nowhere. That’s just the way I decided to start the update post.
“Figures. You never take me anywhere.”
What are you talking about? You go everywhere I do.
“Like I said, you never take me anyw--”
Yeah, yeah, moving on, cause who knows where this is going.
“Well, I am willing to go wherever it is going, because like I said--”
Do you want me to take you to the moon, Alice? Do you want to go there? Because, if you keep talking, that is exactly where you will end up.
“You mean the vacant place that is full of craters and dust?”
That’s the place. *shakes fist*
“Then I will feel like I am home, because that is exactly what the inside of your mind is like.”
You see, folks, what I have to put up with? To the corner with you, buddy.
Anyway, on to the update. Things are moving along on the rails. My hope last update for a continued flowing week of words has come to pass. I was blessed with two writing days that weren’t too hard or too soft. Like baby bear’s bed for Goldilocks, they were just right. I’ve slid into chapter 22 all smooth like and my MC is about to escape a hairy situation; and then run into more trouble. I hoped it would happen and so far it has. What’s that? For the writing to be sort of downhill from here to The End. More of the story and how it is to play out is clearer in my mind, and that should make for easier writing days than when the plot and resolutions were still somewhat fuzzy.
It is only natural that it would happen and I am glad it has. Of course, I expect a few bumps in the road as the story shakes out to its conclusion. And, it is unknown at this point if more changes to the plot are on the horizon. The book is alive now and as more is written, more becomes possible to write. I have already considered switching back to the original killer that I told you I switched from in the last update. So, taking all that into consideration what do I have? A novel in the making that I am doing the best with the talents given me to write. The Irony 3 Novel Train is still on the rails, in the middle of Week 18, and that is a beautiful thing. March 4/5 – Days 124 & 125 – 1124 Words
I feel a short update in the making. Hmm, what to say, what to say? Well, I got my MC’s out of the hairy jam they were in. Now, they are in what will turn out to be a brief little tiff between them, before my main MC moves on to the next obstacle, reuniting with his original partner. Of course, he will discover that while he got out of the hairy situation from earlier, the follicles are still on his tail. He will take that, along with something his original partner reveals to him, on to the next obstacle. Um, or right in the middle of the next obstacle. Um, or past the beginning of the next obstacle, but maybe somewhere past the middle. Or--
“Alright! It’s stick time!”
No, no, I am okay, just working it out. Not lost in the loop this time.
“What’s the difference?”
The difference is that you don’t get to hit me with anything.
“Can I anyway? I mean, just for kicks?”
I’ll kick you if you don’t get out of here. Anyway, folks, that about wraps this sick puppy up.
“I thought it was loony puppy?”
In your case, it is. In my case, I am sick of you, so go.
“Can I say one more thing?”
If fit will shut you up, then yes.
“Happy writing people. Feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.”
Done and done.
March 6 – Day 126 – 514 Words
Alright and alright, another week down on the rails. Love it, love it, love it.
“That’s a lot of love you throwing around.”
There are a lot of cars connected to this train. To date, 18 and about to be 19. So, yeah, got to throw the love around, as well as be thankful for the ride so far. Got me some 514 words on the 126th day on the tracks and am chugging along toward ‘The End.’ How can I not be jacked about that? Oh, and how can I also not be jacked about the new ‘Deep Within’ video?
“You mean the one you have been procrastinating about adding to the site?”
The very same.
“Quite the marketing genius.”
Thanks, I do what I can.
“Sarcasm-1 / Robert-0.”
Anyway, on to a brief update. I am still in the middle of my little tiff between characters that I mentioned last update. They were at the beginning of it and 500 words has them about done. I will finish that off and take them inside, (They were in the middle of the street at night. Cars beeping around them and everything.) and then the book will take off in the direction of the subtitle, Fare is Fair. I am looking forward to that and at the same time am not. Why not? Because of all else that is going on in the book to add to it, this storyline is the most important to get right. I mean, it is the subtitle of the book. I have been laying groundwork for it for over 60,000 words, leading up to this moment. If I fubar it--
“Can I say something?”
Quickly, then I have to get back to the update.
“Have faith in your vision and see it through. The victory is in beginning the book, and celebrated when making it to ‘The End.’ Let everything else fade away.”
You know, I get on you a lot for your antics around here, and some may be wondering why I keep you around. Heck, I even wonder it myself sometimes. But, every so often, you come through for a brother. That was pretty good.
“I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the academy, and my agent for having the confidence in me to--”
And every so often you do that, which makes me start wondering all over again.
Happy writing people. Feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood. For this week’s week end jam, I give you the new ‘Deep Within’ trailer, making its debut here on the site.
