To those who have decided to peripherally monitor this train to see of it goes off the rails, I feel obligated to inform you that I am not a same time every day writer. It comes when it comes and the schedule allows. I would love to be a same time every day AM writer. Alas, there are days when I am a PM writer, and even late night writer. (In fact, that is most days) Happy Scribing. Image found here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/246431410836385219/
Feb. 14/15 – Days 106 & 107 – 1038 Words
Alrighty then, update time. Where are we? Oh, days 106 and 107 on the rails. Wow, has this been a trip and a half so far. Imagine spending that many days riding the rails of a real train?
“Hey?! I thought this was a real train. You told me--!”
And as far as you know, it is. Anyway, yeah, it has been quite the ride to date. Fifteen weeks, eighteen completed chapters, fifty six thousand words, the third book in the series and a whole bunch of posts.
You know, I was looking over the word count on these posts just now and by the time I am finished it could be a book of its own, at just over 28, 000 words. So, the real count to date on this baby is… Hmm, let’s see…56 plus 28…carry the one…make them think I am really doing it, instead of punching the numbers into the calculator program …eighty four thousand words! As these posts are an extension of the book, then I think it is okay to make that claim. I won’t reflect it in the count meter on the Home page, but in my mind, the real final count of Irony 3 will be those two numbers combined.
As for the update itself, I am at the beginning of chapter 19 and my MC is being chased by the cops. How can he be chased by the cops when he is a cop? Good question, and one I hope you want to know the answer to bad enough to purchase the book when it is completed. Oh, btw, my preorder price is usually .99 cents; subject to change, of course, if between now and then books 1 & 2 go viral.
“The only way these books will go viral is if someone sneezes on their kindle and then lends it to a friend.”
Look out! Tunnel!
“Aah!”
Okay, that ought to keep him busy for a while. Where was I? Oh, chapter 19 and counting and still on the rails. These past two writing days were okay, about average I would say. Sometimes the words flowed with ease and sometimes they didn’t. When they didn’t, I stared at the cursor. If that didn’t work, I went for a snack. In between the staring and munching, I got in 1038 words in two days and I am just fine with that.
Thanks for reading, and feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.
“Have we passed through the tunnel yet? Can I come out now? You know I hate the dark.”
Happy writing people.
Feb. 16/17 – Days 108 & 109 – 1083 Words
“I want the truth!”
You can't handle the truth! … You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall …
“Did you order the code red?”
Ahem!
“What--? Oh.”
Well, it seems you kind of caught us in an embarrassing situation.
“I don’t think so.”
Why not?
“Come on, everybody does the Jessep/Kaffee – Cruise/Nicholson thing to themselves from time to time.”
You think so?
“Yeah, of course. You were just doing it, weren’t you?”
Well, it is one of the most famous exchanges in cinema history.
“Exactly, so, there is nothing to be embarrassed about.”
You know what? You are right. Thanks.
“Just don’t tell them about the pink tu-tu and you will be fine.”
You set me up, didn’t you?
“Like pins in a bowling alley.”
Touche’. Well done. Now, do you want to tell them there really is no pink tu-tu?
“…”
I got my eye on you, buddy. Watch your back. Folks, there is no pink tu-tu, but there is an Irony 3 Novel Train update. A short one, I am feeling.
I am into chapter 19 and rolling along. My MC is being chased by the cops, like I told you last update, and he has just met with the criminal boss he went undercover to try and meet. I have it on very good authority that the meeting is not going to go well, setting up a scenario where both the good guys and bad guys are after him. I have a couple more things to throw in his lap and then hit him with the twist I have planned, and wala, we have a book. ~Sigh~ I wish it was as easy to write as it was to say. However, easy or hard, I am going to keep typing by faith and go where it takes me. Happy writing people.

Feb. 18/19 – Days 110 & 111 – 1035 Words
And away we go, jumping right into the mix. Day 110 on the novel train was a nice normal writing day. Wasn’t hard, wasn’t soft, it just was. And being that it was, I was happy about that, coming away with my 500. Day 111, like day 110, was a nice normal writing day--
“You said that before.”
Oh, brother, can’t I get through one update without you butting in?
“I don’t know, can you?”
Let’s not go looking under knarly rocks. (Week 15 Days 101 &102) What do you have to say?
“Nice normal writing day, what does that mean? You used the phrase to describe both days.”
I was trying to get in and out of this update quickly, that is why I said it.
“That’s all well and good for you, but what about those wondering what a nice normal writing day is?”
Oh, come on, I will not insult the intelligence of the millions--
“Pfft!”
Thousands--
“Tee-Hee!”
Hundreds—and one more word out of you and off the train you go.
I thought so, anyway, like I was saying, I will not insult the intelligence of the people who read this blog by describing what a normal day is. Normal describes it all. It says that things went according to plan and the job got done with minimal resistance from a blocked mind.
“Did you just insult the one family member who reads this blog?”
What--? Oh, go away, whydontcha!
Wow, all this time who knew that would work?
“Your mind is a scary place, isn’t it?”
Would make Dean Koontz cry.
“What about Stephen King?”
You don’t, I repeat, you don’t mess with the King. Alright, that about wraps this loony puppy up.
“Scary, scary place. Gives me the shivers so bad, sometimes I have to hide out in the corner.”
Then, please, go there now and let me wrap this up by saying, feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood. Oh, and the new poem just added to Poetic Shroud, It Is There. Happy writing people.
Feb. 20 – Day 112 – 525 Words
Well, here we are, folks, the end of another writing week. Week 16 to be exact. Man, how in the world have I made it sixteen weeks on the rails of the Irony 3 Novel Train? It just seems, I don’t know, when you add them up like that, it seems like a lot. Though, in truth, it really isn’t. Going by 4 weeks in a month,16 weeks is only four months. I don’t even want to do the day math on that, because it will seem like more.
“You know, you could just multiply 16 by 7 and get--”
And you can go to that corner you talked about last update.
Anyway, yeah, 16 weeks and the train hasn’t wrecked out yet. It is definitely on my things ‘to be thankful for’ list. Okay, on to a brief update. I am still in chapter 19 and the meeting between my MC and the bad guy is right in the middle of turning bad. If you read the calendar blurbs on the Contact page at all, you could have probably deduced what I just said from them. I am still working out how it is all going to play out and how my MC gets to the next problem. What I had in mind to do, I passed the time where I could have done it, so it will have to be done coming up. Why couldn’t I just backtrack? Rewrite? And put in what I want, where I want? Because, I like what I have so far and how it has played out, and I can always adapt future happenings, since they are not written yet. If you understood nothing I just said then congratulations, you are probably not a writer. :P
Of course, this is the first draft, so anything is liable to change before or after the book is completed. I am coming up on 60k words and the Novel Train is still chugging along on the rails. Oh, happy day! Joyful writing people.

“Did you forget something?”
Oh, right, for this week’s week end jam, I give you Jackie Wilson’s Higher and Higher, as sung by the ACM Gospel Choir. Enjoy.
