To those who have decided to peripherally monitor this train to see of it goes off the rails, I feel obligated to inform you that I am not a same time every day writer. It comes when it comes and the schedule allows. I would love to be a same time every day AM writer. Alas, there are days when I am a PM writer, and even late night writer. (In fact, that is most days) Happy Scribing. Image found here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/220465344235162473/
Feb. 21/22 – Days 113 & 114 – 1020Words
Week 17, the beginning of another week on the rails. Driving the Novel Train, enjoying the rural scenery, blowing stacked chapter smoke and serving adjective cocktails in the dining car. I mean, come on, how can you not be pumped about all that? *Train whistle*
I’d ask if you’ve seen the Irony 3 Novel Train video at the bottom of the Home page, but you probably already have. Okay, look you guys, I promised I would just pen whatever is in my head when I write these updates, so I have to be honest, there is absolutely nothing in my head at the moment. Oh, geez, why oh why, did I say that?
“Thank you for confirming what I have known for years.”
And here we go.
“I didn’t say it, you did.”
And you just happen to agree. What a surprise!
“The surprise is that you are just figuring that out.”
Ha-ha, very funny.
“I thought so.”
You know, I was just thinking, some people may be wondering about your orientation.
“My orientation? Straight as an arrow and the crow flies. I like long walks in the park, heart pumping amusement park rides, a good thriller, or movie in general. I like to go camping and--”
Not that kind of orientation. I meant in relation to me.
“Hey, I have never, I repeat, never had relations with you. Don’t throw that out there like that. People are liable to believe it.”
*Sigh*
“And for the record, I have never even thought of having relations with you, the orientational kind or otherwise, whatever that is. So, there you go, not only have we never done it, but I have never even thought about doing it.”
I’ll just do this real quick and get out of here, because I can see exactly where this is going.
“I’m not going anywhere with you. And I would appreciate it if you stopped undressing me with your mind.”
You are, without a doubt, out of your red head. Anyway, folks, you know that dissenting voice that pops up from time to time when you are writing or even thinking about something? The inner voice that says “Are you really going to do that?” Or “Yeah, right, like that’s going to happen?” One day I was writing and instead of just ignoring it, I went with it and Red Guy was born. I have since learned that Reg Guy can be a valuable tool for expression, and oftimes when I am blocked in the writing department, I use him to spark conversation just as I have done here. I gotta say, sometimes I am laughing while typing the interaction between he and I. Well, me and I, I mean.
“Say what? And you have the nerve to call me out of my head? You are a walking talking one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.”
Oh, really? Then you want to tell them where you come from?
“…”
I thought so, can’t speak unless I give you voice, can you?
“…”
What was that?
“…”
Alright, go ahead, because I am about to wrap this loony puppy up.
“I said, if those reading are inclined to do so, they can see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood."
Is that all?
“And I am still not having relations with you, no matter where I come from.”
*Sigh* Happy writing people.
Feb. 23/24 – Days 115 & 116 – 1027 Words
Another 1027 miles banked on the rails. At over 61, 000 words, I am deep into it now. No turning back for this train. Full steam ahead, right into the destination town of ‘The End.’ Hopefully, I will be rolling into it soon. Those of you who are of a praying mind, send one up for a brother, because things are getting hairy. If you are not of a praying mind, then there is something you can do that is your equivalent to the praying minds sending one up for me. What is it? What do you think?! Send me a boatload of bleeping money, that’s what!
“Nice try.”
Hey, nothing ventured, right?
Anyway, on to the meat and potatoes. What used to be chapter 18, I think? And then became chapter 19, now has become chapter 20. Wait, no that’s not right, chapter 17 became chapter 18, and chapter 18 became 19, and now 19 has become 20, because I have interjected a new chapter in front of what used to be chapter 19; which now, as I aforementioned previously before these words, is chapter 20. Okay, then, that about wraps this loony puppy--
“Holy Riddler, Batman!”
Darnit, almost got away with it.
“Really? Is that what the acclaimed Novel Train has come to? You trying to get away with stuff?"
Ha! You said it and you can’t take it back. You do respect the Novel Train and agree that it is acclaimed and read by millions. It is about time you came around.
“Since sarcasm is obviously lost on you, do you want to explain the tangled fishing line you just tried to get away with?”
You just wait. One of these days you and everyone alive with know the power of the Novel Train, and kneel before Zod!
“Hahahahahaha! You’ve gone bonkers gain, haven’t you?”
Bonkers? Bonkers? Is it bonkers to ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country?
“Yes, actually, when you are supposed to be doing an update, yes it is.”
That reminds me, I forgot to put the foil on my head tonight to protect my thoughts from the wormhole aliens.
“Okay, folks, for those of you who have been around a while, I am sure you can tell what is going on. Rob has gone off the reservation. This happens every so often, and when it does, I keep a forearm sized stick in the closet.”
Where’s the foil? Where did you put the foil?!
“I am going to have to go get it now. Don’t judge the poor guy too harshly, he’s just caught in a chapter realignment loop and can’t seem find his way back. A couple whacks, naturally followed by a couple of naps, and he will be good as new. Well, good enough to do the updates at least. In the meantime, feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood."
Hey, we're out of foil! Do you know if Plastic Wrap will work?!
"Happy writing, people.”
Feb. 25/26 – Days 117 & 118 – 1041 Words
Man-o-man, it is update time and I have almost nothing in my head to say, besides that I advanced the book these past two days and the Irony 3 Novel Train is still on the rails. I can say this, I guess - I am enjoying writing the book more now that I was before. Why? The simple answer is that it is more exciting to write the stuff happening, than it is to lay the groundwork so that the stuff CAN happen. Wait, that is not the simple answer, that is THE answer. Okay, then, there you go. Plus, I think being so close to everything coming together is funner than being farther away from anything coming together. Funner is what it is, and wholly accepted as a viable word in this blog. (See week 3 Day 19/Funner Day and Week 4’s Picture for funner tunnel) Anyway, the book is coming along and the Novel Train blog is still up and running, and I do have something to say about that - It is a beautiful thing. Oh, and Poetic Shroud received a new resident the other day. "Until It is Not" Happy writing people.

Feb. 27 – Day 119 – 515 Words
End of another writing week on the rails. Wow, these weeks seem to be flying by.
“Yeah, they are, a week at a time.”
Oh, go play in your corner, whydontcha. Anyway, I am serious. It seems like just yesterday that I was writing about the end of writing week 16, and now here we are at the end of 17. If this keeps up, I will be finished the book in no time. However, since I am not, on to the update. It was a relatively smooth flowing writing day. The words came to me and I wrote them down. Better words came later in some cases, and then I deleted the first words that came, and replaced them with those. It went on like this until - Bam! - 500 miles banked and the job was done.
As for content, I have shifted away from my MC to further build up to the revelation that is going to hit him, probably next chapter. Can’t wait to see his reaction as it sinks in that the situation is real. First, however, I have to find a way to get him out of the hairy one he is currently in. I left him and his partner on the precipice of being majorly jacked up by some bad guys. We will see what happens. Another little twisty turn came to me as I was writing tonight and I have decided to go with it. We will see how that plays out as well. Um, I think that about wraps this loony puppy up.
“While you were writing this update, do you think another week went by? Or is that still a week away, like it should be?”
I am going to change your font color from red to green.
“You would--! I’m sorry, for the love of all that is good, change it back! Change it back! Whew, that was a close one.”
He hates green, and I’ll bet he only behaves until the next update.
End of writing week jam. Okay, so, I am not a current pop-music aficionado, but this song is everywhere, and I am posting it for two reasons. 1. The message is a good one. 2. I need to get it out of my head. Happy writing people. Feel free to see Contact page for calendar blurbs, and Home page progress meter for count and mood.
